Terms of Service
Last updated:
These terms are an agreement between Smart World Legal Translation - Sole Proprietorship L.L.C. ("we", "us") and the law firm or organisation that creates a Smart Legal OS account ("the firm", "you"). By creating an account or using the service, you accept them on behalf of the firm and confirm you are authorised to do so.
1. The service
Smart Legal OS is online software for running a law practice: cases, clients, documents, billing, calendar, a client portal, an AI assistant and related features. Which features a firm has depends on its plan. We may improve and change the service over time.
2. Accounts
The person who signs up is the firm's owner and is responsible for the account, for the users they invite, and for keeping passwords safe. Information you give us must be accurate. Tell us straight away at support@smartlegalservices.ae if you think an account has been accessed without permission.
3. Free trial
New firms get a 14-day free trial of the chosen plan, without a card. When the trial ends, the workspace becomes read-only until the firm subscribes; its data is kept.
4. Subscriptions and payment
Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, in US dollars, through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled.
You can cancel at any time from Settings. The plan stays active until the end of the period already paid, and is not renewed. Payments are not refundable, including for unused time, except where the law requires otherwise.
If a payment fails, Stripe retries it; if it still cannot be collected, the workspace may become read-only until the balance is paid. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; a new price applies from your next renewal.
Prices exclude any taxes that apply, which are added where required.
5. Payments from your clients
A firm can show its bank details on invoices so its clients pay it directly, and can optionally connect its own Stripe account so clients pay by card. Money paid by a firm's clients goes to the firm, not to us. We are not a party to the firm's relationship with its clients, and the firm's use of Stripe is also governed by Stripe's own terms.
6. Your data
The firm owns the data it and its clients put into Smart Legal OS. You give us permission to host, process and transmit that data only as needed to provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for having the right to upload the data, for your professional duties of confidentiality, and for how your users and clients use the platform. At any time you can download your documents, ask us for a copy of your data, and close your account and ask us to delete your data.
7. The AI assistant
AI-generated answers, drafts and summaries can be wrong or incomplete. They are a tool for qualified professionals, not legal advice from us, and must be reviewed by a lawyer before they are relied on or sent to anyone.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the service for anything unlawful, or to store or send content you have no right to;
- try to access another firm's data, test or break the security of the service, or overload it;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer the software, except as the law allows;
- send spam or unsolicited messages through the email or WhatsApp features.
9. Availability and support
We work to keep the service available and to back up data, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Support is provided by email at support@smartlegalservices.ae.
10. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, does not pay, or puts the service or other firms at risk; where reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to download your data.
11. Liability
The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of profit, business or data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees the firm paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
You will compensate us for claims by third parties, including your clients, that arise from your data or your use of the service in breach of these terms.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and tell firm owners about significant changes by email or in the app at least 30 days before they apply. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The courts of Abu Dhabi have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
